I ordered a Middle-Earth Pipeweed Sampler from Just for Him
and it is from this sample pack that I will make my reviews of each of the five
blends. I have also decided to smoke each sample all the way through, without
smoking anything else in between. I have to beg a pass on the “Tin Aroma” in
this case. I believe that the aroma is simply too mild to be adequately
described from such a small sample. The samples, while large enough to decide
if one should purchase more, are a bit on the smallish side. I must admit to
being somewhat disappointed.
I have no idea why I have decided to start with the 3rd offering
in the Middle Earth series. I suppose
it's because I was watching The Two Towers (Extended Cut). When I stoked
up the first bowl of Treebeard, I thought (????). I was drinking a homemade and
very strong latte at the time. I think
that the coffee completely overpowered this very mild blend. I noticed no real-if
any impact from vitamin N.
After drinking a glass of ice water, I smoked a second bowl during
the second disk of The Two Towers.
I decided to have it without anything else to drink. That is when the taste began to come
through. I have detected a little
vanilla. It may be there to mellow the smoke, but I cannot taste it at this
time. I do taste an almost cigar like flavor. Probably the burleys I taste.
They sometimes add a light, sweet, and nutty taste that somewhat resembles a
mild cigar. I am beginning to detect the vanilla again rather late in the bowl.
I have been smoking Treebeard in my beloved TRG White Ringed
Volcano. It is a small bowled artisan pipe with wonderful smoking
characteristics. I think it was a wise choice of pipes. Treebeard and my TRG suit each other
beautifully. I have about one more bowl
and am looking forward to it. I can
recommend this blend as a diversion.
It's very good, but very mild. I have to give Treebeard a 4.0 in my
personal ratings and recommendation rating, but will go with a neutral 3.0 Tin Aroma just
to be fair.
