Terrible tobacco
This is by far the worst tobacco I've ever smoked! My first experience with M79 was over forty years ago and I couldn't stand it then. Then a few years ago, Altadis sent me a large free sampler of tobacco and tucked inside was a pouch of M79. Against my better instincts, I got out an old cob and filled it. Five puffs in I dumped the bowl and the cob into the trash. It is said that Hugh Hefner and Frank Sinatra both smoked this blend. Hugh has had scads of beautiful women, as has Sinatra, but they had strange tastes in pipe tobacco. Can I give it zero stars? |

An Old Fashioned Classic This is an old fashioned aromatic that is flavored with an anise liquor. The tin description states: "Steeped in tradition for over 70 years, Mixture 79 remains one of the finest pipe tobaccos ever produced. A mild and aromatic blend of all Burley tobaccos uniquely cased and cut in the traditional method. Discerning pipe smokers have made this a favorite for decades." It is similar to Lakeland blends. It seems that this blend inspires love or hate. I enjoy it with coffee. The room note is similar to perfume. |
