John Middleton Co, blenders of fine tobaccos since 1856, are best known for their Cherry Blend pipe tobacco, Cherry Blend is not your typical cherry mixture, it is a finely crafted cross cut Burley/Virginia blend, with a wisp of cherry in the background and a solid up front tobacco profile. This is the tobacco our fathers and grandfathers smoked, it has a good old-fashion tobacco taste with a pleasant aroma, takes to the match easily, burns free and steady, is mild and cool smoking. If sipped and smoked slowly (breathe smoking technique works well with this blend) you will find Cherry Blend has a subtle sweetness all its own that lasts to the bottom of the bowl, with a finish to fine ash, for a stronger tobacco taste I would recommend smoking this blend in a well-seasoned briar, as a cob seems to mute the taste of this tobacco. On a more personal note, no other OTC burley blend puts me in "the zone" like a bowl of Cherry Blend with a fresh, hot cup of black coffee, this is my nirvana!
