I Love Vanilla
I must begin by saying I am no expert where flakes are
concerned. I have and do enjoy navy flakes and have learned to deal with them
when it comes to tobacco preparation. Regular slice styled flakes have always
been problematic for me. However; with a little experimentation, I achieved some satisfying success with this wonderful blend.
I tried Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake in a number of
different pipes before I settled on one that, to me seemed to suit this blend
very well. It is my TRG White Ringed Volcano, a very fine smallish pipe. I experimented
with the fold and stuff, and rubbing it out before settling on the rubbed out preparation
as my preference.
I love Vanilla and the Tin Note is very nice; a little
spicy, sweet, and definitely vanilla. I have always loved a good vanilla blend.
The tobacco is small sliced flakes and is dark brown in color interspersed with
bright yellow streaks. Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake is quite a good looking
tobacco. The moisture content is not overly high but does require some drying
after rubbing it out. It burns well but as I mentioned I have always had some
difficulties with flake tobaccos. So, I was not disappointed when a couple of relights
were required.
The Room Note is very pleasant, as is the definite vanilla
taste that is predominant throughout this most flavorful smoke. The Virginia
becomes noticeable toward the half way mark, but not overly so. Mac Baren
Vanilla Cream Flake is not overly complex to me. But, then that is one of the
aspects that appeal to me. The creamy smoke is rich without being overpowering
and has a great mouth feel.
I found Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake to be a relatively dry
smoke that leaves a crusty white ash with dry dark dottle in the bottom of the
bowl, and I experienced absolutely no gurgle.
I love this flavor of this tobacco. I have enjoyed it immensely,
and highly recommend Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake to everyone, even those of
us who have difficulty with flake tobaccos.
