Tin Description: Larry Loerzel, one of our regular store customers, and connoisseur of English/Balkan blends had tried Ten to Midnight, and although he liked it, he was looking for something a little fuller and different. Based on his preference, we blended a full, traditional Balkan using Orientals that were more buttery and amped-up the Latakia. This blend is now a big hit among our full-bodied English fans; a cool-smoking, very rich mixture.

Awesome Balkan


Larry's Blend is an awesome Balkan blend. It smokes extremely well - is complex and has a wonderful buttery, full bodied, smokey taste.

There is a merde de cheval  (aka horse manure)  kind of aroma and taste  - which is definitely gamey. So - I would recommend this to all lovers of fine European wines or smelly cheeses. Personally, I like gamey or funky flavors - so this one is an absolute winner for me.

A Favorite Blend

This has become a favorite blend of mine since I first tasted a sample at the Chicago 2010 Show. I am a lover of Latakia blends, and this one delivers the flavor that I look for in a blend. It lights and smokes very well. I smoke quite a few blends, but I keep Larry's blend in the rotation and smoke it at least a few times per week.

A darker side of Latakia

Picked this blend up on some recommendations.  Comes only in bulk and is pretty dry and ready to fire up.  I tried this straight out of the gate with no known age on it.  This makes for a great late night before bed smoke.  If you look at 10 to Midnight and Penzance as the lighter side of Latakia.  This blend is the darker side hiding in a back alley waiting to steal your soul.  It has a ton of Latakia and you will know it.  One issue is the room note, when smoking it around some friends I was asked who stuffed a dead skunk in my pipe and lit it on fire.  I really enjoy this blend, but it is for the outdoors or if you live alone.

Larry's Blend

When I first received it from Pipesandcigars.com, I didn't care for it.

I let it set for 6 month's and came back to it and found I could actually smoke it and enjoy it. I enjoy the Balkan blends and this blend became a keeper.
Don't smoke this indoors. The best Latakia tobaccos are best smoked outside. It's pretty strong for none smokers and animals.
