An early favorite.

I first bought this 3 years ago as my introduction to the GL Pease tobaccos.  At the time I really had nothing to compare it to except the aromatics I liked.  


Odyssey opened up a whole new world for me.  My first extended experience with latakia.  My first tobacco that I had to have some "skill" to smoke properly: sipping slowly, lighting well, etc.

The flavor is tremendous. Leather and woods.  Goes absolutely AWESOME with a Coke.

Overall I like Virginias a little better now.  Or English/Balkans with more natural sweetness (like Frog Morton Across the Pond or Spillman's Mixture).  But Odyssey is still jarred away for when I get the time to pack a big pipe!

Odyssey


This mixture is good as long as all the smoker wants to taste is Latakia.
Sorry, but I can't get any variation from the smoky leaf. C&D Latakia seems much more pungent than say McC's, and simply over powers the blend.

Odyssey for Latakia lovers

I am smoking a tin from February 2010. This blend, to me, is full strength Latakia, which I love. The blend lights well, smokes dry, and burns well to the end. This makes it a good blend for me. The strong taste of Latakia, with orientals, makes it a great blend for me. I am not sure that this will be an all day blend, or even an everyday blend for me. It will certainly be a regular blend that I smoke, and I have just ordered several more tins so that I have it available. Latakia is the main taste, and for me that is great. If you love the big, strong taste of Latakia, I suggest you give this blend a try.
