Review by Schmitz Bitz
A definite crowd pleaser
Presented as a long cut, (mopstly) ready rubbed ribbon, containing high-quality bright Virginia leaf. I have found that in addition to shipping a touch on the moist side, some of the tobacco requires a touch of rubbing out still.
The tin aroma of this tobacco is simply devine - freshly baked sugar cookies, vanilla, and melon (although I say cantalope, not honeydew), with fleeting hints of cinnamon and caramel.
From charring light through half bowl, I find this tobacco stays fairly uniform in flavour, which, despite the tin aroma, really provides a simple, mild and true sweet hay-like citrusy Virginia flavour, accented with subtle hints of vanilla, honey, and melon (I do get honeydew here, oddly enough).
As the bowl passes half-way, I find the vanilla flavours become more pronounced, although never fully come into the forefront, preferring to allow the tobacco flavour to shine. Hints of caramel, honey, and melon continue to appear in the background, complimented by a mild-cinammon/buttery flavour (makes me think of cinammon pancakes).
The room note on this tobacco is where it really shines, in my opinion. Certainly, vanilla is at the forefront here, carrying with it hints of honeydew, cinammon, melted butter, caramel and just a hint of something that I can only describe as guava and passion-fruit. This combines to create a wonderful melange that will have the wife or room-mate asking you to step indoors.
The only drawbacks to this blend for me are an extremely low nicotine content...I find myself craving a cig by mid-bowl most of the time; and the lack of an enjoyable after-taste. I literally finished a bowl before I started writing this closing paragraph, and any lingering flavours have already dissapated.
All in all a great aromatic, particularly for consumption in "mixed" company (and although I use the term loosely, not meaning to imply women, but non-smokers, I am sure this blend will have the desired effect on the opposite sex, too!), plus, being a true Va tobacco, this is one of the few aromatics that should benefit from cellaring...3.5 stars, although it would rate another star if the nicotine was there for me.
