Delightful Latakia bomb
I am living close to where they make this blend (less than 60 mi), and in over 20 years of pipe smoking, never got around to trying it. That was a big mistake.
The tin contains a mostly-dark blend of various cuts, with some bright (VA) leaf in there; the tin note is very heavy on the Latakia with the Orientals noticable in there. The moisture level is perfect for stuffing and lighting up straight from the tin.
The leaf takes to the match readily and burns evenly and gently; I once quite simply forgot to tamp down regularly and the pipeful still burned down to the bottom without any dottle -- perfect handling notes from me for that.
The room note, of course, is antisocial. It's a Lat bomb, after all. The taste, however, is full, creamy, salty, deep, spicy... a total beauty.
London Blend 1000, for me, is a serious competitor to Old Ironsides and Mountain Village Evening Standard; my next order of this will be the bulk package. It's that good, IMHO, for the Latakia lover.
