A Very Good VA/Per Blend
This tobacco had a little over 1 year of age at time of the review.
The tin aroma of this blend is a nice sweet and tangy smell with a light hint of spice. The moisture level is good for smoking right away, but some might prefer to let it dry some. I fully rubbed out a couple of flakes for smoking.
At the start of the smoke, I tasted a straight tobacco flavor with a hint of nuttiness to it. The nutty flavor did not last long and was gone after a few puffs. Soon after that, I started picking up on a sweetness with some spice. The spice was not the typical Perique spiciness. It was different and a little more complex. Around this time, I started picking up on light hints of black coffee. The coffee flavor didn't last very long.
Around the mid-bowl point the typical Perique spiciness started showing up. The Perique slowly started building up. The sweetness also was steadily increasing to balance out the spice from the Perique. Around the 3/4 bowl mark, the Perique started fading, but it never disappeared. This last change in the flavor profile stayed the same until the end of the bowl.
This is a very good blend and I like it a lot. It smoked cool, dry, and didn't bite. This is a pretty complex blend that tastes really good. It also has a very pleasant finish. I Highly Recommend it!
