Bald Headed Teacher The aroma of this tobacco is sweet with just ths slightest hint of latakia, This blend loads easy and stays lit throughout your smoke. When first lit you can taste the burley with the sweetness of the virginia and the faint taste of latakia in the background. Halfway through the bowl the virginia starts to add to the sweetness along with some tangy notes, and the latakia barely making it out. The bottom of the bowl will taste like burley with the other componets being finished. This blend smokes cool and dry with no bite, This is a good all day and into the night smoke which will satisfy most smokers. Highly recommended. |

A True Balancing Act
Let's
start with the basics... Pouch note: Great tobacco aroma, with nothing out of
balance or forward to the nose. Room note: Pleasant to tolerable. The smoke is smooth, mellow, warm, no bite,
tasty, medium-rich. I was impressed with the first couple of bowls of Bald Headed Teacher. The Burley is
up-front but not overpowering. The Virginia is lightly sweet, satisfying, and
flavorful. The Latakia, while there is only noticeable and takes the edge off
the Burley. When I
said the smoke was "warm" I mean that the flavor is warm and
medium-rich, not hot or biting. Packs and lights easily. Bald Headed Teacher seems
to be best suited to a medium sized bowl. Small bowl a bit difficult to keep
lit and left me wanting. Large bowl grew to be bit overpowering and lasted too
long for the amount of nicotine from the Virginias and Burley. I had to set it
down and come back later... However; the relight was just as good, and seemed
to just pick up where I left off. It didn't have any of the charred flavors one
might expect from a Burley blend upon being relighted after a brief rest. Bald Headed Teacher doesn't seem to be a true English blend nor does it seem to fit into the realm of Aromatics. The smoke is a bit dry, owing I think to the Burley.
There is a light peppery taste coming from the Latakia I believe. And, there
seems to be a light and delicate sweetness from the Virginia tobaccos. It
reminds me a bit of Ruins of Isengard from Just for Him's Middle Earth
Series. Not as rich but just as tasty, just a little sweet, a little smoky, and
a little spicy. I will
generally inhale once or twice during a bowl. However; this seemed to say don't
do that too much. The flavors really came through when puffed and released
through the nose. No burn there at all. In My
Humble Opinion a very pleasant smoke, maybe not an all day smoke, but if you
want some flavor in a mild-ish blend with a little kick, 4Noggins Bald Headed
Teacher will fill the bill. And, as a side thought... with a pinch of Perique
it is quite enjoyable as well. I like
it. |
